Hi Jayanthi,
First, let me know the level of your knowledge in Hindi. If you are interested in speaking Hindi fluently, I do suggest the same as our friends suggested, i.e., start speaking Hindi with Hindi and other language people. Then start watching Hindi serials (for some time at least), listen to NDTV news and other networks, listen to cricket commentary in Hindi. Words like Ballebaaz, gendh, chakka maara, chouk pada, girgaya, pareshan hai, shandaar shaat, etc., will be most frequently used.
Unless you develop the attitude of learning any new language, it does not come in your way. But Hindi is a very sweet language and you can easily learn it with concerted efforts. You can also browse through Shabdkhosh.com for English-Hindi translation of words.
AAPKO HINDI SEEKNE KI TAMANNA JO HO UTNI HAI USKE LIYE MERE BAHUT BAHUT BADHAI HO..... (The very thought that has struck your mind to learn Hindi, I heartily congratulate you for the gesture.)
Regards,
