Struggling with Communication Skills in HR: How Can I Improve and Prepare for a Global Career?

Can you suggest how I can improve my communication, both verbal and written? I have noticed many mistakes in my conversations with others, especially when I am alone.

Currently, I work in an MNC as an HR executive. I understand the importance of effective communication in HR, covering various topics such as business, general matters, community issues, and politics.

Written communication is particularly crucial for conveying messages via email. Despite having completed an MBA from a reputable institution affiliated with Anna University, where I achieved a 64% grade, I still face challenges in communication.

I seek answers to the following questions to address my communication issues:

1) How can I enhance my communication skills?
2) What aspects should I incorporate into my career development?
3) Is it beneficial to practice reading the newspaper daily?
4) How can I improve my memory retention?
5) Which languages should I prioritize learning?

I aspire to pursue a career abroad, where proficiency in English is essential. I am hopeful that you can provide valuable insights and solutions to my communication concerns.

Basically, what you are looking for will come through a LOT OF PRACTICE. Personally, I do not think there are any specific courses to help you out. I would suggest the following:
- It is very important to start thinking in the language you want to speak or write in.
- Please take out time and LISTEN to news in English.
- Slowly try to speak along with the reader.
- Then start writing what he/she is speaking.
- Actively reading aloud different newspapers will also help.
- You should then start writing the same paragraph/matter you have read in your words and continuously check the grammar, spelling, choice of words, and composition of sentences.
