Can a Well-Off SC Chartered Accountant Opt Out of Quota Benefits for Future Generations?

I have a query. I would be grateful if someone entertains it.

Can a person who originally belongs to the SC category get converted to the General category since he has qualified education on his own merit till date? He is a Chartered Accountant. His family is economically well-off.

Is there a declaration that needs to be filed stating that he, his family, or his future generations would not avail any quota benefits, etc., in the future?

The purpose is to be out of the SC records of the country, which is out of inheritance and not out of will.

If somebody could let me know of a website or post a reply, I would be grateful.

You do not need to obtain a certificate and produce it. You probably might have claimed or produced this. For your children, you can always apply in the general category. The law does not say you shall claim. The law says you can claim.

I appreciate and respect your great thought. I often see the educational and economically strong people often hog the reservation benefits. Everyone from the reservation beneficiaries will think in the same direction; then definitely, the scope is there for enlistment of real deprived classes. I agree with the post made by Siva.

You will be asked for your certificate when you write that you belong to the SC or ST category. If you write that you don't belong or write Gen category in any form or application, then you will not be asked to produce a certificate. The question is, who knows what you are? This means no one knows what you are, and everybody knows what you are. It means your relatives or friends know what you are, but others don't know. If you are a talented person, always fill in "gen" in your forms. In every application that asks which category you belong to, if you say SC or ST, then you have to produce your caste certificate; otherwise, you do not have to do so.

Your act shows a way to all educated persons. Let us all respect the principle behind the reservation policy where the deprived receive some benefits because of their position in society. This is the essence of our constitution. However, nowadays, it is misunderstood by the people of this community. Even though they are well off economically, they do not want to forgo their benefits, thereby denying a person of their eligible rights.
