Need Help Updating Statutory Requirements for Garment Industry – Any Checklists to Share?

Can anyone send me a checklist for updating statutory requirements (PF, ESI, Inspector of Factories, and other government bodies) for a garment industry? I need to update it immediately.

Hi Sugees,

I am also working in a garment export house. Please go through the Factories Act, 1948. For the garment industry, it will be the same as for any other industry. If you want the checklist of annual and half-annually returns, please search - you'll find the same on CiteHR.

I am also attaching herewith the list of ESI and PF forms, which was downloaded from this site sometime back. If you want any further help, let me know.

Hi Softy,

There is one standard called British Retail Consortium (BRC). This standard covers 3 aspects: quality, safety, and legality (of a product). This standard has a different set of requirements for food and non-food items. The Tesco technical audit is based on the BRC standard.

For quality, you can follow the requirements of ISO 9001. For the safety of a product, you need to conduct a product safety hazard analysis, and for legality, you need to understand the legal requirements in the country of manufacturing and also for import.
