In Kerala, unlike other states, minimum wages notification is not issued in every 6 months but it is notified only when a revised minimum wages is fixed for the industry. Once a notification is issued for a particular industry it will be in force for at least 5 years. However, in Kerala, the Dearness allowance which is linked to Consumer Price indices is decided every month. For that also no separate notification is issued but the employer is likely to calculate the month's VDA based on the CPI published by the Department of Economics and Statistics. The rate of DA is obviously available in the minimum wages notification itself.
