In Kerala, unlike other states, the minimum wages notification is not issued every 6 months but only when revised minimum wages are fixed for the industry. Once a notification is issued for a particular industry, it will be in force for at least 5 years.
However, in Kerala, the Dearness Allowance (DA), which is linked to Consumer Price Indices, is decided every month. For this, no separate notification is issued, but the employer is expected to calculate the month's VDA based on the CPI published by the Department of Economics and Statistics. The rate of DA is obviously available in the minimum wages notification itself.
