Can Public Sector Banks Foster Exemplary Behavior Despite Current Labor Laws?

I was reading the article on Deviant workplace behavior and Organizational Citizenship behavior. Is it possible within our current labor laws? Can the public sector banks expect such exemplary behavior in the workplace? The labor laws need to be amended for that, which will be vehemently objected to by the unions.

Hi,

I don't want to comment on labor laws, etc., but your observation about public sector banks is not justified. I have come across such behaviors in private banks and excellent behavior in public sector banks. In fact, yesterday I was in Indian Bank, and I am not an account holder in that branch. I was waiting in a queue after inquiring where I would get info. Suddenly, someone called me from the counter, asked me what I wanted, and gave info in just a minute.

In fact, I am seeing a lot of such behaviors in Public Sector Banks. Alternatively, I have come across rule-bound, little atrocious behavior from Private Banks. I can quote a number of instances branch-wise...at least 5 to six branches I have visited. So, don't single out Public Sector Banks. :)
