How Can We Improve Our CITEHR Community by Valuing Contributions and Following Guidelines?

Dear Members,

I am very glad and happy to be a part of this wonderful family of professionals called CITEHR. CITEHR has been continuously helping me enhance my knowledge and has been giving me new thoughts and ideas. CITEHR has helped me contribute my ideas and also receive reviews on the same.

CITEHR has helped me forge new friendships and associations. I am happy to be part of a family that is growing every second.

Over a period of time, as CITEHR is growing, I have noticed that at times we, as members, have been losing sight of the core idea behind forming this professional group called CITEHR.

Lots of young, budding HR professionals join this group every day in the hope of receiving guidance, answers to their queries, or appreciation for their work. However, I have seldom seen people rating a post that they find useful, which I personally feel is wrong. I rate postings that I find useful and I would request others to do the same.

If a person can take the time to upload a file for others to share, then can't we spare a minute to appreciate that person's efforts? I would also like to highlight a problem that has been occurring rampantly in CITEHR - postings are being posted in sections that have no relevance to the topic.

I would request all to please go through the guidelines specified prior to publishing any and all articles on CITEHR. Additionally, I suggest that it is not wise to give out your personal numbers on the website, which is accessed by people all over the world. Numbers, if provided carelessly, can be misused and lead to severe problems.

These are very small mistakes we make, but if we, as a family, wish to make CITEHR a success, then we need to correct our errors. I am not preaching ideas or imposing thoughts, but I am requesting all members to think about the same. If you agree with me, I would request all to act upon the same.

Thank you for your time, patience, and cooperation.

Much obliged,

Octavious

Dear Mr. Octavious,

It was a pleasure knowing you on citeHR. I would like to express my gratitude to all those who have been suggesting, guiding, enhancing, and nurturing me in all my HR needs to improve my beginner skills. I was unaware of the concept of ranking until I read your article about appreciating individuals by ranking them. Your article has opened my eyes, and from now on, I will rank each and every article I read. Thank you, pal.

Dear Octavious,

It's my first time joining a site. Your notes are just right! I viewed the HR sap attachment you provided, and I never knew it could perform so many HR functions. You will not believe it if I tell you it's been greatly underutilized at my organization, which prefers to do most HR-related work manually.

Thank you.

The presentations sent forth are just the basics of SAP to be implemented. For better and more effective implementation, it is crucial to capture the AS-IS process accurately, map it accordingly, and then implement the SAP process. Particularly in the Time Management system, it is advisable to implement a negative time management system where inputs are provided externally to the SAP system.

Nice post Octavious, but the sad thing is that whatever you mentioned above has already been highlighted by many members, like spamming the site with ads/job requests/consultancy, etc., in almost all sections. I see some really educated people spamming the site and promoting their organization. Many times, I have mentioned to them to refrain, but many new members just want to get their job done and are not interested in sharing knowledge. We really need some active moderators on this site who will keep a tab on activities going on in this site.

Hi Octavious,

Sorry to say, but I couldn't open any of your attachments from your postings related to Compensation and SAP. The other views that I have read about it are really encouraging me to look forward to your further posts. However, I can't give any reaction on these attachments which I could not open. Please shed some light if you will.

Thanks.

Hi Octavious,

I have been associated with cite hr for less than a month, and I find that this site has many types of postings, including job searches, job offers, job postings, etc., as well as very good HR information. You said that it is fair to share our knowledge and information with others. But what if they misuse it?

Recently, I offered to provide some information to a member to conduct a personality development training program. However, that member kept asking for psychometric tests and hard copies of training materials. We can share our opinions, but copyrighted materials cannot be shared with others. I feel this is my professional ethics. So please do not insist on such information.

Thanks & regards,
Gopan

Dear Octavious,

It's great seeing your concern for citehr and its members. But I feel praising everyone is almost like praising none. It would spoil the zeal of sending best for appreciation. I believe that if a post touches your heart or head, helps you in some way, or brings a smile or laughter, then you should always feel obliged to say thanks. Such feelings should come from within. Saying thanks just for the sake of saying it would motivate neither.

I might be wrong from your point of view, but this is how I think. Only expressing my personal views.

Best Regards,
Durga

Dear Octavious,

You are right. I am a new member of this site, and I share the same sentiment. Providing personal or mobile numbers is not advisable. I have also started rating posts, including yours.

Dear Octavious,

Another thing I would like to add here is that many of the articles in citehr are repeated, especially in sections like Motivation, Day Life, General Discussion, and Humour. The same articles, jokes, poems, etc., are posted by different members either as they are or with minor changes in names or locations. One may wonder if this repetition is merely a coincidence or if members are doing it to gain credit ratings and increase their number of posts. If it were a coincidence, one would expect it to occur in other sections as well, where members seek advice from other HR professionals. Why does this repetitive behavior seem to occur only in these particular sections? Don't you feel that so much space is being unnecessarily used up? As a senior member, don't you think something should be done about it?

Please comment.

Hi Octavious,

My friend told me about the book "Rich Dad Poor Dad." I will be happy to give you some feedback once I finish reading the book.

Thank you.

Dear Octavious,

Thank you for your thoughts and contribution. I also thank others who have expressed their views here. Yes, as a Super Moderator, I have started to delete messages that are repeated. However, sometimes we may allow posting of some PowerPoint (PPT) presentations that have appeared before; the reason for this is that some of the attachments in old messages are not accessible at times.

I have been trying to curb the practice of seeking help without doing any prior search. I hope others do it too.

Have a nice day.
