Understanding No Objection Certificate (NoC) and Relieving Letter
This is a really helpful discussion. My understanding aligns with many of the above comments. Yes, a NoC is an internal document required by the concerned HR department or team to ensure that there are no dues or obligations on the employee who has resigned. Based on the clearance, they can issue the Relieving Letter to the employee with a full and final settlement.
In current organizational practices, most organizations maintain a system-generated record tagged with the respective Employee ID. All that finance, HR, and others need to do is click on the approve or clearance button available in the system. Once the system shows no dues, the Relieving Letter is issued to the employee who resigned from the organization. So, mostly, a NoC is an internal document.
I would like to know, if an employer has already issued a Relieving Letter to an employee, does that employee still require a NoC from the employer in addition to the Relieving Letter?
Please let me know your thoughts on the same.
