Highly theoretical question!!! The key lies in stable and unstable environments. A stable environment requires a conventional and bureaucratic structure, while an unstable environment requires a Matrix structure.

Hi there,

There are books on Designing Organizational Structure. I don't remember the authors. It comes in EEC publication. Very informative and updated. Try tracing this. If I can trace the names, I will send it across. Just remind me after two days in my private mail if you could not trace the authors' names.

I was following this book when I restructured the organizations I worked in. Very informative and an excellent reference book. Supposed to be an authority on this subject.
