Is It Safe to Work Without an Offer Letter or Resignation Letter? Seeking Advice on Job Transitions

How good is it for an employee to work without an Offer Letter or any Resignation Letter in an organization? Is the Offer Letter a must to switch from one company to another? Is it okay if an employee receives a Resignation Letter when they leave the company, even if they didn't get an Offer Letter when they joined?

Which holds more prominence when we leave the company – the Offer Letter or the Resignation Letter?

Both things are important. However, in some cases, if you join another organization, they may ask for the relieving letter, not the offer letter, from your previous employer. Am I able to draw a picture? Or was your question different? Kindly confirm.

Both letters are imperative. When you join any new organization, a relieving letter issued by your previous employer is a must.

Ideally, one must have both for legal cover-up. Two of my friends recently joined new companies without any relieving letters because their previous employer was neither prepared to give them a raise as per their expectations nor allowing them to leave for greener pastures. The new employer was prepared to accept them without any relieving letter so they accepted the offer in writing.

Working without an Offer Letter? - It's surprising that after so much development in HR systems and practices, this is still happening! I have had 8 cases so far. If you do not have an offer letter, then it becomes hard to justify your date of employment; in other words, your tenure with the employer. The same goes for the relieving letter.

My sincere advice: please talk to your manager and tell them that you will need this letter for employment records. Also, in today's world, offer letters are taken for verification purposes, e.g., loans, passport, immigration, etc. If all else fails, your payslips are the only proof as they would have the DOJ...

Both white-collar and blue-collar employees are very important in an employee's career life. However, some HR departments in certain factories or companies do not provide an offer letter; instead, they only offer an appointment letter. This is due to a lack of awareness for the employee, and some take advantage of this situation.
