Need Creative Ideas for Engaging Valentine's Day Activities at Work – Suggestions Welcome!

Hi all,

I have a serious favor to ask. I am a fresher in HR and I need to engage employees throughout this month in fun activities. I need all of your suggestions for any activities to be conducted on Valentine's Day. I am planning to have a themed day with a dress code. Apart from that, are there any games or activities that we can do to engage them for around 15-25 minutes? I will be eagerly waiting for responses, especially from seniors.

I can suggest a game where participants pass a ball, and when the music stops, the person holding the ball must propose to someone from the group. The best proposal could be rewarded with a gift for the couple. It's essential to ensure that everyone, both girls and boys, gets a chance to participate. I believe this game could be quite interesting. Feel free to try it out.

You can decorate the office with balloons, specifically heart-shaped red ones. You can keep the dress code as 'Red Day' for employee engagement.

For employee engagement activities, consider organizing games like a fish pond where employees are free to write about anyone in the organization - expressing appreciations, leaving messages for their bosses, colleagues, etc. You can even introduce titles such as "Mr. Valentine" for the male employee who receives the most messages and "Miss Valentine" for the female counterpart.

Additionally, posting messages on the notice board can be a great way to spread positivity and foster a sense of community within the workplace.

For Valentine's Day, you can have the "Black and Red" theme. Guys can be in black, and girls in red. Have a prize for the best-dressed.

Since it's Valentine's Day, employees would be happy to share things about their own Valentines. So, consider organizing a contest for the best picture or the best love story where people can share love stories about their partners or photographs. Generally, people like sharing these things with their colleagues on such occasions.

Since we don't celebrate Friendship Day in our organization, you can make Valentine's Day a Friendship Day. If you have enough space in your organization, arrange a half-hour dance session where you can bring in someone to teach salsa for half an hour. Trust me, people will enjoy this since they rarely get a chance to dance.

Everybody has given wonderful suggestions. I just have to say that it would be more exciting if you do not reveal anything. I mean, keep it a surprise that Valentine's Day is just another day in the office. In the second half, try keeping it a staff meeting, which everybody would consider to be boring. The meeting hall can be decorated with balloons and some beautiful messages of belongingness to each other, as Carol suggested. Games and titles can be distributed there as well. I think this would make the day very special for each of the employees. Moreover, you can also offer them Valentine bands, very simple ones, or maybe to the privileged employees or the newcomers. And do not forget to offer them heart-shaped pastries to eat.
