Understanding Medical Allowance: Do I Need Bills for Health Expenses Like Cerelac or Gym Fees?

PKSACHDEVA
Sir,

My question is as follows: We are receiving a Medical allowance of Rs. 15,000/-, and it is totally exempt if the bills are produced. My questions are:

a) Is it compulsory to submit the Medical bills?
b) Can the purchase of Health Cerelac also be covered under Medical Expenses?
c) Can a membership fee for any Health Centre or Gymnasium club be treated as a Medical expense?

Thanks,

Hi Pradeep,

Yes, you must submit all the bills you have. It should only be medical bills, not cosmetic or general health bills. According to the IT Act, the membership fee of any health center or gym will not be treated as a medical expense. Also, in response to your query regarding a person covered under health insurance, they can also produce bills for expenses not covered because normal diseases are not covered by health insurance.

Hello Pradeep,

Yes, it is necessary to submit medical bills for reimbursement. It is covered under medical expenses if you are in the medical period. However, it is not required if it is from the doctor's side or from the consultant or counselor on the company's side.
