Navigating HR Tech: Is SAP, Oracle HRMS, or PeopleSoft Best for Career Growth?

I have completed my MBA in HR from a regular college. I am planning to move to ERP and thought an Oracle HRMS course (Functional) would be the best option. Currently, I am working with a software company in Chennai as a General HR and have around 2 years of experience in Recruitment and General HR. I want to know if SAP HR is better, or Oracle HRMS, or PeopleSoft HR.

Which one is in more demand currently and which one will be more helpful for an HR professional to build a career and reach the highest echelons of a professional organization? Is it worth self-studying the material or taking training in institutes? Please let me know, and if you know any good institutes that provide this training, please share the details.

During my research, I found out that Oracle University is directly conducting Oracle 11i HRMS courses. I contacted the authorized centers for Oracle and learned that this course is not offered by them and is directly handled by Oracle. The course fee is around 1 lakh. I inquired with my friends and discovered that regardless of where you take the course, they would require implementation experience for a job. Is it worth taking this course in this case?

I am also curious about the scope of SAP HR and whether it is better to do it from Siemens or opt for a local training center.

Additionally, I found out that there is no examination for the Oracle HRMS course, whereas SAP conducts certification exams for their HRMS Course. Will this impact the certificates received? Will I be "Oracle certified" and receive a certificate to that effect, or will it be more like a participation certificate?

I would appreciate some suggestions from senior members, especially Leo sir, and others as well.

All three SAP/Oracle and Peoplesoft HR have their own markets and are equally in demand, although as you know, Peoplesoft had been acquired by Oracle so Oracle will try to market its product more than Peoplesoft, as per my understanding.

If you are planning to take any course, then for Oracle and Peoplesoft, you have to contact Oracle University. They offer courses in Oracle as well as Peoplesoft. If you opt for SAP, then make sure to choose a recognized channel only.

For all the courses, you will be given a Certification. For example, if you do a Functional course, you will be HRMS Functional Certified. If you are studying project management, you will earn a PMP certification, and so on.

Hands-on work experience is a major factor. Any company where you apply would prefer candidates with similar previous experience, whether the project is a new implementation, upgrade, conversion, migration, etc.

In India, the Oracle ERP market is not as extensive, whereas you will find most companies using Peoplesoft, JD Edwards, and SAP.

However, in the near future, Oracle is likely to grow worldwide as they are now introducing Oracle Fusion.

I have also heard that SAP and Microsoft will collaborate to compete against Oracle. As you may know, Microsoft also offers ERPs like MS eCRM and MS Dynamics, which deal with Supply Chain, I believe.

All ERPs in HR have modules, and you will need to specialize in areas like Recruitment, Benefits Administration, Base Benefits, Payroll, Compensation, Performance Management, etc.

I noticed a few corrections needed in your message:

"Heyyyyyyyyyyyy" is a casual greeting, but it's better to use "Hey" with fewer 'y's for a more standard approach.

The sentence "Course fee from Siemens and other good institutes is around 2 lakhs. Be ready to shell out, but the job assurance is certain. Please get it in writing from any institute that they will provide you a job within a certain period."

SAP HR Course from Siemens

SAP HR course from Siemens has increased to 3.5+ lakhs. So, if anyone is interested in investing, this is the institute you can rely on. However, do check with their placement services, as I have read some negative feedback on the same.

Also, consider checking other SAP partners if you are inclined to pursue an SAP course.

Oracle HRMS and Fusion HCM: Breaking New Ground

Oracle HRMS and now Fusion HCM, which has PeopleSoft HR functions added, can break new ground in the future. Currently, many customers still prefer forms-based HRMS, especially with Oracle's recent release of 12.2.5. However, 12.2.4 appears to be more standard. Oracle also implements localizations for each country.

In a recent implementation in Malaysia, I encountered challenges due to Oracle's lack of Malaysia localization. By enabling the Legislation code, we could access certain functions. One of the toughest aspects I faced was the Malaysian Income Tax calculation. While it is somewhat similar to the Singapore Tax calculation, there are still notable variations. Despite the formula provided by the Malaysian Income Tax authority (LHDN), it was quite difficult to build the logic in Oracle Fast Formula. I managed to create a workaround using the User Table definition.

Another issue is with SOCSO deduction, similar to EPF deduction, where the elements and logic are not built into Oracle HRMS Payroll in 12.2.4. However, PeopleSoft HR covers almost every function required for Malaysian implementation. Oracle has combined these features in Fusion HCM. From client feedback, it seems that the infrastructure cost for Fusion is significantly higher compared to traditional forms-based Oracle HRMS.

Oracle HRMS: A Leading Choice in the Oracle Ebiz Suite

In general, Oracle HRMS is considered one of the best within the Oracle Ebiz suite family. Previously, when discussing HR and Payroll, PeopleSoft was often the first to come to mind. Now, with Oracle's introduction of Fusion HCM, it is poised to dominate the market, although it will require time to stabilize.

I refrain from comparing SAP HR, Oracle HRMS, and Microsoft. Each has its own strengths. While vendors and service providers can offer suggestions, customers should also consider factors such as cost, feasibility, user community acceptance, management support, and integration with other software. The selected product should align with their requirements without extensive customization.

Thanks for your comment; it's really helpful. However, the question is, is there any use in doing these certifications? Because everybody wants someone who has done some implementation. With my experience being 2 years in HR, if I do certification, my experience will be zero in that certified course. What are the chances of getting a job as a fresher in that certified course?
