How Can We Truly Learn and Teach Each Other? Exploring a Thought-Provoking Dialogue

Sonit
"I wish to learn. Will you teach me?"
"I do not think that you know how to learn," said the Master.
"Can you teach me how to learn?"
"Can you learn how to let me teach?"
To his bewildered disciples, the Master later said: "Teaching only takes place when learning does. Learning only takes place when you teach something to yourself."
Anthony de Mello, SJ
MORSEL: The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides, and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire. -- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Hi Rupa,

I am ready to teach you, but as you said, "learning comes with desire," do you desire to learn?

Sonit,

So, you got your student. Get ready for teaching. Rupa, suggest me if Sonit is a good teacher, I too will join as his student :) .

Regards, Kiran.
Sonit
Hi Rupa,

I am ready to teach you anything under the sun but not maths. Please, I am really bad at it and I admit it.

Kiran, I am ready to teach you as well, but the same condition applies to you also - no maths.

Sonit Singh

Sonit, good to hear that. Don't worry about Math; I will teach you that. I don't have any doubt regarding my teaching skills, as I was a teacher for nearly 1 year while pursuing my MBA :) .

Regards,
Kiran.

Sonit,

That was my past profession, and I will not be a teacher anymore, I guess. So, I am comfortable with Kiran. Buddy, believe me, math is the easiest subject if you take some time to understand the logic. Anyhow, I don't think you need to learn Math anymore.

Regards,
Kiran.

Hi Kiran,

There you go. Now you are talking like a teacher; all maths teachers say that it is the easiest subject. Anyway, I am happy that I don't have to study it anymore. Although I know that it is very important to have knowledge about maths, but what to do, I feel giddy when I see numbers. 😉

Hey Sonit,

Now, this post makes me laugh after seeing your fear of math. Okay, Sonit, no more discussions regarding math with you. So, feel free and have fun.

Regards,
Kiran.

Hmm... Rupa, you gave a different climax to this thread. The discussion actually started regarding Sonit's teaching abilities and ended up confirming me as a teacher. Good sequence though.

Rupa, thanks for all your compliments for me and Sonit. I think by now I have enough liberty to thank on behalf of Sonit. Right, Sonit? :)

Regards,
Kiran.
Sonit
Hi Rupa, Kiran,

Kiran, you surely have the liberty to thank on my behalf (for compliments; I have no problems whatsoever 😜 ). Thanks from my end also to both the ladies. Do I consider the discussion to be over? With the verdict, "Kiran is the Teacher and Sonit is the student if Maths is not the subject."

Sonit Singh

Bah... Sonit, you too joined the club of misunderstanding.

Let me explain something to you. I am a male from the south, so Kiran is also a male's name there. So, Sonit Sir, I am a MALE. Anyhow, I have gotten habituated to this question. I already posted once on this forum that I am a MALE. How pitiful my situation is, right?

Finally, KIRAN is MALE and from SOUTH INDIA.

Regards,
Kiran (Male) 😉
