Sudharsan Iyengar
Dear All,

I am working in a Delhi-based southern company. My salary is processed from Chennai, and they also deduct Professional Tax from my salary. I want to know if the professional tax is applicable to me or not. Could anybody guide me on this?

Thanks,
Sudharsan

Hi Naveen,

Based on the below posting, I have understood that for a salary of less than Rs. 21,000, there is no amount to be deducted as professional tax. I worked for a telecom industry in Chennai, and our salaries were prepared from Ahmedabad. For all our staff whose salary ranges from Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 75,000, the professional tax is deducted monthly.

Could you kindly clarify if the deduction is correct or not?

Regards, Narinder

Dear all, Nowadays, many companies are located in rural areas, specifically in village panchayats. My question is, how do these companies pay professional tax to these types of local bodies? Are village panchayats legally eligible to collect professional tax from employees within their area limits? Please clarify.

Thank you.
