Seeking Advice on Creating a Fair Employee Awards Rating System in HR

I am working in a software company in HR. We are working on some morale-building exercises for our employees. We are considering awards such as:

- Best Employee of the Year
- Best Programmer of the Year
- Best Team of the Year
- Award for Punctuality, etc.

Can you kindly help me in framing the rating system or method of assessing employees for these awards? Are there any prevailing rating systems? What attributes should we consider when selecting employees for these awards? Kindly provide me with some sample formats.

Well, we do have a Leadership award for all the departments. The rating is done by Senior Management on a scale of one to ten. They discuss this and then proceed with the rating. The Project Manager of the Concerned Department and Delivery heads are also involved in this process. Ratings can be in various forms, such as statistics specific to each department.

Hi Vidhya,

We have the Best Associate of the Month awards, and we rate them on a 1-10 scale based on the following traits:

- Effort and Commitment
- Initiative
- Teamwork & Interpersonal Relations
- Punctuality and Attendance
- Personal Appearance and Grooming
- Work Ethics & Honesty

Awards are given for Housekeeping Services, Customer Care, Technical Services, Support Services, and Security. Even though Security and Housekeeping are outsourced, we have included them for the awards as they also play a significant role in the organization.

The same is reviewed by the HR Committee, which will finalize the awardees.
