Finding Talent in Rural Gujarat: What Are Your Best Sourcing Strategies?

Mehul Mehta
Hi Seniors, Greetings to you.

I am one of the HR Managers in a leading Insurance Co looking after recruitment for rural areas of Gujarat. I have been here for the last 6 months and have done a good number of recruitments so far. However, I would like to know from all the experienced members if they can suggest some new ways of sourcing since finding the right talent from remote areas is a challenge. I have tried a referral scheme, newspaper adverts, and some other methods, of which some worked and some didn't.

I request you to let me know some ideas and ways of acquiring the right talent from remote locations.

Thanks & Regards, Mehul Mehta

Dear Mehta,

Have you visited the District Employment Office yet? If you go there, you can collect resumes from more talented candidates through the DEO. This way, you can choose candidates according to your requirements. I think this approach will be more useful.

Dear Shriram,

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I have already thought of this option, but due to some strict rules and regulations and a lengthy process involved in getting data from Employment Exchanges, most of the private companies refrain from collecting data from there. I would be grateful if somebody can let me know the ways of getting data through them without getting into legal complications.

Dear Mehta,

As far as my concern, I got the candidates in the same manner as I informed, but there are no legal complications here in Tamil Nadu. I received the Approval Letter from my MD and I have shown it to the DEO. Then, I obtained all the relevant information from there. Try this approach, and it will definitely work out.

Hello sir,

I have no experience, but I am an MBA fresher with specialization in HR, so I have knowledge in this field. After analyzing your problem, I feel that the skills you want for this job, which you are looking for in a candidate like me, involve judging a candidate based on their skills, but more importantly, giving consideration to how easily and quickly they can adapt to new responsibilities and duties.

For rural areas, the best option is to consider B-school graduates because they have current knowledge and are easily prepared to work in rural areas.

If you like my suggestions, please reply so I can provide more.

Regards,
Tanvi
