Can I Claim HRA Exemption While Living with My Mom and Paying Her Rent?

My gross salary includes House Rent Allowance (HRA) as well. Can I get HRA exemption on the basis that I am staying with my mom? The agreement of the house is in her name, but if I show that I am paying house rent, can I still claim the exemption? Please let me know if I can provide a rent receipt.

Hello, I am Dr. Prabhakaran Palanichamy. I would like to know the details of my HRA calculation for tax exemption for 2007-2008. I was receiving a basic salary of 16500 (Basic 9900 and DA 6600). My HRA was 11000, and I had paid a total rent of Rs. 12000 (Rs. 7000 for house rent and Rs. 5000 for maintenance). Can you please tell me how much exemption I will get for house rent?
