Transitioning from HR to Finance: What Should I Expect in My Interview?

BPO Shobi
Hi Shobana,

I need your help and advice. I recently received an interview call from a leading IT company for a position. I have been working as an HR Recruiter for the past year, but they mentioned that I don't have enough experience in recruitment. They suggested I prepare for the finance aspect instead.

I don't have any experience in the finance domain. Can anyone help me out with this? What is finance, and what kind of questions could be asked during the interview?

Looking forward to your reply.

Best regards,

Dear Shobana,

Before offering any suggestions or advice on this, one would need to know about your qualifications and experience. Also, the position you have applied for and the company profile.

If you could provide these, I will be able to offer suggestions. Alternatively, if you want to discuss specifics, you could email me at vdeepak@rmc.in.

Best regards,
Deepak

Hi Deepak,

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm working as an HR Recruiter in a corporate for the past year. I have experience only in recruitment. I have completed my B.A. in Corporate Economics and am currently pursuing my MBA in HR, second year. :)

Dear Shobana,

I presume that you are applying for an opening as an HR Executive/Assistant Manager HR in a professionally managed IT company. In this case, one would be expected to know about finance functions in such detail that would be covered while doing job evaluations, preparing job descriptions, and job specifications about finance positions. The positions themselves would depend on the size and segment of the IT company.

Best regards,
Deepak
