LTA Claim [Thread 73129]

Can excess baggage charges in flight (substantiated wiht proof) be forwarded as part of my LTA claim? If not, why not? Is there any GOI ruling / guideline saying it can't be claimed? My logic is: my baggage can't travel alone, it has to travel with me and being part of my legitimate expenses why can't it be claimed as part of LTA?

Hi,
LTA can be claimed only basing on your eligibility criteria like the cadre in which you are, the basic of your salary amount currently you are withdrawing from the organisation etc. (depends upon the amount declared by your organisation)
LTA includes all the things but not excess luggage charges etc.

While I'm aware of on basis of which LTA amount is fixed by co. which is rank, cadre, CT etc.., my specific contention was if passenger (LTA claimant) and his luggage can travel in the same flight, why can't that be a ground for claiming LTA (ticket cost plus excess baggage charges). You have commented excess luggage charges doesn't form a part of LTA. On what basis are you saying this? Any GOI ruling, notification, guideline? What? Can it be part of a company' policy to allow employees to claim excess baggage charges as part of LTA? Know that companies like SBI Capital Markets supposedly have this as a part of its policy.

Hi!
This is actually a valid querry and unfortunately, I am unable to shed light on it from the GOI rules and regulations but it can definately be a Core company policy which can enact for any specific gain for its employees. But I too would be enlightened if one of us can shower some valid information on the same.
