Feeling Stuck in Recruitment? Seeking Advice on Transitioning to Core HR Roles

R.viswanath
Hello everyone,

I am currently working as a Jr. HR in a growing software development company. I was the 12th member to join the company, and after 6 months, the team size has now increased to around 40. Although my designation is Jr. HR, I am primarily focused on recruitment. My interest lies in Core HR, and I have already communicated this to the management. However, all my efforts have been in vain. Now, I have decided to change my company as well as my role in HR. I have no experience in any core HR activities. How can I transition to a core HR role involving compensation and benefits, appraisals, training and development, and payroll? Can anyone kindly suggest how I can achieve this goal? I have completed one year with the company.

Thanks for your time and cooperation.

Regards,
Visu :)

Hi Vishwanath!

In my view, do not change your job now. Instead, I would like you to take on the role of recruitments and look for a change if you really don't want to continue in recruitments. You can try for BPOs or any pharma or manufacturing sector where you find some openings in Core HR. Meanwhile, I would like you to know about some know-hows in a core generalistic role. Grab some information from your seniors or try to learn by yourself.

Have a nice day.

Regards, Ramu.

Hi Ramu,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I apologize for the late reply as I couldn't find time to browse.

Moving into such a domain may also require some experience. So, if I attend any interviews for such companies, what kind of questions will I be asked? Will they focus on core HR subjects or on my previous job roles and responsibilities?

Thanks,
Visu
