About HR As Career

Hi all,
I Just started my career in HR after getting done with my MBA. So, I have many nagging questions in my mind that I would like to hear answers. I see many experienced personnel in this communtiy,so, it would your kind concern if you take some time to clear my doubts.
1) How can a person proceed in this field after having some good amount of experience like 8-10 years? (If he wants to leave the job and do something based on the experience he gained like consultancy and stuff )
2) Is it possible to continue as faculty along with job after enogh eperience ?
3) What would be hike in salary at the time of appraisal in this field ( Software field do have hike of about 50-100 per cent for each appraisal of an individual) ?
4) Are there any other communties like this for knowledge sharing regarding HR ?
I would be very greatful if anyone can take sometime to clear these doubts of mine,

First of all, thank you very much for taking time to give a detailed explination for all my queries. Your answers are really simple and apt. Thanks much again.
Secondly, I must tell you that I am MALE, but not female :).
I am basically from south india (Andhra) and KIRAN is a male's name as well as female's name there. After coming here to Delhi for my MBA, I got atleast 250-300 or even more people asking me about my name considering it as female's one in the past 2 years. So, I got habituated to this......
