Hi,

A vision statement is the dream, and a mission statement is the method used to achieve this dream.

Vision refers to the superordinate objective or ultimate goal of any organization.

Mission refers to the step-by-step procedure to attain the Vision.

Vision is the long-term plan for your organization. It is about deciding where you want your company to be in 5 to 7 years or in the long run.

On the other hand, a mission is how you connect your company's vision to society. It defines what the company aims to offer as a service to society.

Both are not the same. As rightly said by all, Vision is a long-term (usually 10 years) "dream" while Mission is the short-term (usually 1 to 2 years) steps/programs/initiatives/milestones taken to realize this dream.

Please visit this link to understand what short-term missions NASA initiated and achieved in order to realize the vision of President John F Kennedy's "Man on the Moon!"

Hi,

VISION refers to "what you want to be," i.e., foreseeing the future or your ultimate objective.

MISSION refers to "what you are now," i.e., short-term objective.

Corrected text:

Vision is a long-term goal, while a mission is a short-term objective that can provide more strength to the organization so that it can achieve its vision by accomplishing small targets first.

Vision - where you want to be in 10 years.

Mission - The purpose of the organization. For example, an Educational Institution's vision could be the top school in 10 years. The mission is to provide quality education to achieve the vision.
