Can somebody clarify the exact difference between a Vision statement and a Mission statement? Please share if you have some sample mission and vision statements.
Both are not the same. As rightly said by all, Vision is a long-term (usually 10 years) "dream" while Mission is the short-term (usually 1 to 2 years) steps/programs/initiatives/milestones taken to realize this dream.

Vision is a long-term goal, while a mission is a short-term objective that can provide more strength to the organization so that it can achieve its vision by accomplishing small targets first.
Mission - The purpose of the organization. For example, an Educational Institution's vision could be the top school in 10 years. The mission is to provide quality education to achieve the vision.
