My wife is working in the same organisation I work. One of the member said that wife and husband both leave together and this is problem. In my case, my wife leaves by 6 pm and I would leave by 9 pm. We have different vehicles. It depends on the nature of work and grade / designation. A senior staff cannot leave by 6 pm everyday or one will have to wait outside to pickup the other in case both travel together. Till now she calls "Sir" in my office. Many of our employees do not know that we are husband and wife as we maintain discipline. Hence there is no problem for us or for the organisation.
When I worked for Tata, in Estates off-late they started recruiting husband and wife because, as they can give Single House Accomodation to them. Otherwise the company has to maintain two houses. Allowing or not allowing depends on the company policy. There are pros and cons but if pros are more nothing wrong in working together. Companies which has high rate of internal politics and negative atmosphere normally think of not allowing married couples in the same office. However, working in different departments should not be a problem.
Many I times, working together was advantage for us and company. We need not go to two different offices. We can mentor each other during tough situations. Help each other in the official work (non confidential), if one has over load and one is free, or if needs guidance in certain assignments. Also interaction between two inter-dependent departments will be smooth etc. For ladies husband working with them is a security also etc.
