Seeking Career Advice: Should I Pursue an MBA in HR or a Diploma in Training & Development?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, although I go through the postings quite regularly. I am heading a Training Department in a Software Services organization. My main job responsibility is Training coordination as well as Soft skills development. I am a Psychology graduate. My question is directed to all the experienced Training and Development professionals. I am confused about what other qualifications I should acquire; should I pursue an MBA in HR, or a Diploma course in Training & Development from ISTD Delhi? I wish to remain in the Training and Development field. Kindly advise.

Thanks, Aatrayee

Hi,

In the short term, a diploma in T&D would be very useful, and it is your expectation to be in the T&D business. However, in the long term, an MBA would add more value. An option for you could be to first complete T&D and then pursue an MBA. This decision would depend on the duration of the Diploma in T&D.

Meanwhile, you can also attend T&D or HR workshops at the company's expense conducted by professional organizations.
