Competencies encompass the set of success factors essential for attaining significant outcomes in a specific job or work role within a particular organization. Success factors represent combinations of knowledge, skills, and attributes (historically referred to as 'KSAs') articulated in terms of specific behaviors demonstrated by exceptional performers in those roles. Attributes encompass personal characteristics, traits, motives, values, or cognitive approaches that influence an individual's behavior.
