Competency Mapping Steps: Can We Do It Without Hiring a Consultant?

Can someone share the steps involved in competency mapping? My company is planning to do this exercise. I would like to know if this can be done without an external consultant.

Hi Vinod,

All jobs can be done without an external consultant. However, let us admit that we, in an organization, may not have time to read as much as consultants do.

Secondly, external consultants will help you to see things without bias and prejudice. The first remark is all about knowledge and skill, and the second talks about your behavior. You can learn and master the skill, but when you actually do this exercise yourself, you are likely to have biases and prejudices.

I tried it and ultimately went back to the consultants.
