Is a Distance Learning MSc in HRM from University of London Recognized for Jobs in Mumbai?

I am currently residing in Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.) and have recently enrolled in a Masters in Organizational Psychology/Human Resource Management program with the University of London (Distance Learning). They have a convenient program of a step-by-step process of achieving your Masters. You have the option of directly registering for your Masters or earning a certificate (for the first 3 modules), then moving on to the PG Diploma and then the Master. This way, you get something tangible for your progress, and if you need to take a break, it still works in your favor to have your certificate/PGD to help with career enhancement.

Anyway, my question is, would this degree I obtain from the University of London be valid to get a job in Mumbai? I am looking to move back to Mumbai after completing my Masters program. I would appreciate it if someone could inform me on how big "Training and development" is within companies in Mumbai.

Thank you for your interest. I am just curious about you; are you working in HR in Mumbai?

To answer your questions, I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Arts from Sophia College in Mumbai, with a double major in History and Psychology. I graduated in 2000.

I have always been interested in pursuing my Master's degree. However, I did not opt for a general MBA program with any of the Indian universities due to my educational background. I knew that I would struggle with subjects like Finance and Economics without attending full-time classes.

I am a people-oriented individual and I enjoy the idea of training and counseling adolescents. Unfortunately, here in Abu Dhabi, one needs to be of Arab nationality to do so, in accordance with cultural norms.

I have been working as an administrator for 4 years (out of my 7 years of work experience) and have collaborated with the HR department, although I have not yet obtained a major role. In the UAE, HR is more administrative, focusing on ensuring that policies and procedures are followed or updated as needed. Other activities include interviews, contracts, job descriptions, induction/orientation, visa procedures, compensation/benefits, and budgeting. I have been involved in all of these activities except for budgeting and compensation & benefits.

Training within organizations is lacking in this region, and that is an area that particularly interests me. The other HR responsibilities can become repetitive and mundane due to their administrative nature.

I am currently working as an Assistant to the Director of a Women's Engineering College, primarily for local women, funded by one of the largest oil companies in Abu Dhabi. My job profile ranges from being a secretary to a counselor to the girls here. We strive to mentor these girls to become strong and focused individuals while ensuring that they have all the necessary resources to achieve their goals.
