Legal Concerns of Swapping Republic Day Off with a Sunday in Maharashtra?

shekhar_2626
Dear Sir,

Republic Day is on 26th January. What will be the consequences if we declare a weekly off on 26th January (Saturday) and run the factory on 27th January (Sunday), which is a normal weekly off in compensation for the weekly off given on 26th January? Any legal complications?

Regards,
Shekhar

Dear Shekhar,

In Maharashtra, 26th Jan, 15th August, 2nd Oct, 1st May are mandatory days off. It is advisable not to tamper with these holidays. As far as Sunday is concerned (i.e., 27th Jan), if the majority agrees, then you can keep the work on and compensate with another day off.

Janavi

Hi everyone,

Can you please inform me about the eligibility for paid holidays or the rules regarding paid holidays? One of my employees was present on 29/4. 30/4 is their weekly off. 01/05 is a paid holiday, but they were absent on 02/05. Are they still eligible for the paid holiday or not?
