Dear Seniors,
Merry Christmas to one and all. I am a student in my final year, pursuing an MBA in Personnel Administration, a 2-year full-time course recognized by the UGC, not AICTE.
A couple of weeks ago, I had an interview with a company for campus placements. I successfully cleared all rounds with flying colors, but during the interview, one of the interviewers mentioned that they prefer candidates with degrees from AICTE-affiliated institutions rather than UGC.
While they acknowledged that I was the best among all candidates, they informed me that they would place my name on a waiting list and get back to me after consulting with the management. Realizing the impracticality of the situation, I was politely dropped.
My course is specialized, and I have extensively studied all aspects of HR, unlike AICTE programs. Do you believe this preference for AICTE could impact my career? Also, is it accurate to assume that a student in Personnel Administration can only work in a manufacturing setup? I disagree with this notion and believe I can excel in any sector.
Please feel free to point out any errors in my thinking and offer suggestions. I am quite upset due to the lack of opportunities for HR students in my college and by companies as well.
I eagerly await your comments, advice, and suggestions.
Warm Regards and Thanks,
Ritu
