Inspection Charges Under Provident Fund Act

sandeep Khare
I am working with an organization which have own trust. Currently we are paying 0.18% Inspection charges to Provident Fund office. My question is that in our organization so many employee's Salary is more then 6500/- pm although we have deducted the PF on actual salary( suppose 10000/- pm) but paying inspection charges only upto 6500/- Its CORRECT or we should pay the inspection charges on actual salary. Please clarify the same with relevant act.

Hi Sandeep,
> In respect of exempted establishment under P.F. Scheme employer is liable to pay only inspection charges at the rate of 0.18% of emoluments.
> In the case of establishment exempted from EDLI Scheme, the employer is required to pay only inspection charges at the rate of 0.005% of emoluments.

Dear Mr Amit
Thanks for your prompt reply but sir my question is this on which amount we should pay the inspection charges to department.
suppose employee getting the salary per month Rs. 10000/- and we are deducting PF on Rs. 10000/- so inspection charges that is 0.18% on Rs.10000/- OR on Rs 6500/- -(Max Limit oF PF.).
Currently we are paying the inspection charges only on Rs.6500/- to the department not on full salary if salary is higher then limit that is Rs. 6500/-.
So I want to know weather this correct or wrong.

Dear Sandeep,
After an amendment the ceiling for PF is already been fixed @ 10,000 basic.
So better you consult with your PF authority and make clear whether you are required to pay of previous period also..

Dear Sandeep,
As PF Act those who getting salary ( Basic +DA ) Rs 6500/- are covered employees. But like your company there are many exempted establishments who are paying PF contribution on actual basic + DA which is more than Rs 6500/-.However all these exempted establishments are paying EPS contributions on upto a salary of Rs 6500/-. The ceiling of salary for all statutory payments is Rs 6500/-. Therefore you pay EDLI & EDLI Administrative charges and inspection charges on salary upto Rs 6500/-. It will not a violation of statute and u can do it safely.
So far I know the amendment for raising the ceiling of PF deduction was only a proposal which has not been translated into Act and RPFC/ Chambers of Commerce has not issued any circular informing their members about the change. I would request Amit to post the circular if he has.

The establishment to which Relaxation Order is issued / exemption is granted is required to pay Inspection charges @ 0.18% of total wages on which Provident Fund is recovered (and not on 6500) , to the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner concerned by deposit in cash / local cheque in S.B.I. to the credit in A/C No. 2 of the Employees' Provident Fund, through prescribed challan.

hello Everyone, I have some confusion on Admin. Charge & Inspection Charges on new Challan (01.01.2017).
In the case of establishment un-exempted from EDLI & EPF & EPF Scheme then what % will be on-
Total EDLI Contribution (ER Share A/c No.21)= ?%
Total EPF Charges (A/C No. 2):-
Administration Charges= ?%
Inspection Charges =?%
Total EDLI Charges (A/C No. 22):-
Administration Charges= ?%
Inspection Charges =?%
And In the case of establishment exempted from EDLI Scheme but Un- exempted from EPF –EPS Scheme then what % will be on
Total EDLI Contribution (ER Share A/c No.21)= ?%
Total EPF Charges (A/C No. 2):-
Administration Charges= ?%
Inspection Charges =?%
Total EDLI Charges (A/C No. 22):-
Administration Charges= ?%
Inspection Charges =?%
Please need guidance.
