Understanding EPF Transfers: How Do They Affect Your Tenure and Benefits?

bharat_kapoor
1. I have transferred my EPF amount from my previous employer to my current employer. I wish to know whether the period of ten years will be counted from the date of joining my previous employer or my current employer.

2. I have not received any EPF statement from my employer. How can I find out the amount in my EPF account?

3. There is a small amount in the Employees' Pension Scheme from my first employer. To date, I have not withdrawn it. If I do not withdraw it for the next 10 years, will there be any benefits for me?

Your period of 10 years will be counted from day 1 of the previous employer only if you have not withdrawn your previous amount.

2. I have not received any EPF statement from my employer. How can I know the amount lying in my EPF account?

You have to manually calculate it or can verify that from the PF office where your company is submitting PF. If you have a copy of Form 3A, you can calculate it using the same.

3. There is a small amount lying in the Employees' Pension Scheme of my first employer. Till date, I have not withdrawn the same. In case I do not withdraw the same for the next 10 years, is there any benefit for me?

If the amount is not withdrawn and you want a pension, obtain a pension certificate for the same. If the amount has already been withdrawn, and you have completed more than 6 months in that organization, you can withdraw the same.
