I need guidance on managing leave allocation for new hires in our company, which operates on a calendar year basis. We offer 18 Privilege Leaves (PL), 6 Casual Leaves (CL), and 6 Sick Leaves (SL). According to our company policy, an employee can carry forward 6 SL for up to 2 years. However, if CLs are not utilized within the year, they lapse. We also allow the encashment of 10 PL annually.
Our probation period lasts 6 months, and only after this period can a new employee utilize their leave. All leaves accrued until the 6-month mark are reflected in their balance. However, in the new year, additional leaves are added on a pro-rata basis. I am seeking advice on how to manage these leave balances effectively. For instance, if an employee already has 3 CL in balance as of December 25, and from January 26, he will receive 6 more CL, as per our rules, his CL would lapse. I am looking for a better way to manage this situation. Kindly advise.
