Under the PESO guidelines for storage of liquefied ammonia gas in Maharashtra, the permissible quantity of gas that can be stored varies based on licensing. As per the Gas Cylinder Rules, 2016, the maximum quantity of ammonia that can be stored without a license is 100kg. If you need to store more than this amount, you will need to obtain a license from the concerned authorities.
To obtain a license, you need to go through the following steps:
1. Submission of an application to the Chief Controller of Explosives (CCOE), Nagpur. The application should include the detailed project report, including details of the proposed storage, handling facilities, safety measures, etc.
2. After the receipt of the application, a preliminary scrutiny is done by the CCOE. If the application is found to be in order, a pre-licensing inspection of the site is conducted.
3. If the site is found suitable, the CCOE issues a No Objection Certificate (NOC). This NOC is required for further statutory clearances from local bodies.
4. After obtaining all statutory clearances, a final inspection of the completed installation is carried out. If everything is in order, the CCOE issues the license for storage of liquefied ammonia gas.
