What Were the Major Challenges Faced During the Transition to an HRMS System and How Were They Overcome?

Kritipatel
I'm seeing many companies still managing HR tasks on Excel—especially payroll, leave, and onboarding. For those who've shifted to an HRMS: What were your biggest hurdles? Did your team resist the change? Which HR processes did you automate first? The discussion focuses on the challenges encountered while using HRMS.

A new thing always faces resistance at first, most of the time. In this case, switching from Excel to an HRMS brought some resistance and challenges for us. Some of our team members were resistant at first due to unfamiliarity with the new system. We were able to overcome this by offering proper training and showing how it would simplify their tasks.

Initially, we automated payroll, attendance tracking, and leave management since they were time-consuming and error-prone in Excel. The platform Empxtrack helped us in automating these HR tasks. Once the team saw how much smoother and more accurate these processes became, the adoption improved significantly. The switch was worth it as it improved efficiency and compliance.

What were your biggest hurdles?
The biggest hurdle is setting the system logics. If your company policy follows slightly different policies than the standard company policies, then it will become a headache.

Did your team resist the change?
Yes, as the process becomes transparent and smooth, they have a fear of losing their jobs.

Which HR processes did you automate first?
Payroll.
