Dear Hanumantha Rao,
Revised Minimum Wages in Kerala for 2025
In 2025, Kerala has revised minimum wages in various sectors, including agriculture, construction, tourism, and IT. These revisions aim to adjust wages based on factors like living costs, market prices, and job location. The revised minimum wage rates for some sectors are: agriculture (₹600-₹800 per day), construction (₹700-₹900 per day), tourism & hospitality (₹800-₹1000 per day), and plantation (₹550-₹750 per day). The IT sector's entry-level minimum wage is around ₹15,000 - ₹18,000 per month, but this can vary depending on the role.
Agricultural Operations and Allied Sectors
The revised minimum wages for workers in agricultural operations, mechanized agriculture, rubber tapping, dairy farms, nurseries, and cashew plantations include Dearness Allowance (DA) for time-rated workers in dairy farms, nurseries, and cashew plantations.
Cane and Bamboo Industry
The Kerala government also revised minimum wages for workers in the Cane and Bamboo Industry sector, including both piece-rate and daily-rated workers, who are eligible for Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA).
Other Sectors
The government has also issued notifications for draft revisions in wages for the manufacture of gold and silver ornaments.
Monthly Calculation
The monthly wage for daily-rated workers is calculated by multiplying the daily rate by 26, and this calculation includes the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) component, which accounts for inflationary trends.
