Left Job Early: Is It Legal for My Old Employer to Keep Paying PF Without Salary? How Will This Affect My New Job?

Sanjay2089
I have absconded from a company after 15 days of joining. They asked me to serve a complete 2-month notice period, which I declined. It's been 2 months, and the employer is making PF amount payments every month. I haven't received any salary or anything. I am not sure whether it is legal to make a PF contribution if you are not receiving a salary.

I am unsure of what to do and how the new employer will react to this situation. If you could kindly guide me, I would be very grateful to you.

PF Contribution and Salary

PF is contributed on salary paid or payable, and if there is no salary, there should not be any PF contribution either. I don't know why your employer is doing so, but it may be due to oversight. It is a fact that as long as the contribution to your account is active, you cannot mark an exit or transfer the account. I don't think any employer would take such action to seek vengeance for not serving the notice period. I suggest you talk to your employer.
