PF-Overlap 12 days - previous role was in a non-IT domain, I have not included this experience in my career profile

Hello, I worked for six months in a non-IT company. In early June 2021, I informed my employer of my decision to resign. However, due to the small size of the organization and the unavailability of the HR representative (who was on leave for two weeks), there was a delay in processing my resignation. This led to an overlap of 12 days between my last working day and the joining date at my new job in an MNC on July 14, 2021. I officially received my resignation letter on July 26, 2021.

Since my previous role was in a non-IT domain, I have not included this experience in my career profile. I am looking for guidance on addressing this overlap effectively.

Handling Overlap between Jobs

🕵️‍♂️ Timeline Clarity: The situation you faced with the overlap is not uncommon due to processing delays. Here's a practical approach to address this effectively:

1. 📝 Documentation Verification:
- Ensure you have all relevant documents like your resignation letter, acceptance of resignation, and any communication related to the delay.

2. 👩‍💼 Consult HR or Legal Advisor:
- Seek advice from HR or a legal advisor to understand the implications of the overlap in terms of employment laws and company policies.

3. 🗣️ Communicate with Current Employer:
- Inform your current employer about the overlap situation transparently and provide the necessary documentation to support your case.

4. 🔄 Request Adjustment:
- Request your current employer to make adjustments to your exit date or provide compensation for the days beyond your intended last working day.

5. 📌 Update Career Profile:
- Since you have opted not to include this experience in your career profile, ensure consistency in your job history on platforms like LinkedIn.

6. 🚀 Be Proactive:
- Stay proactive in resolving any issues arising from the overlap, maintaining professionalism throughout the process.

7. ⚖️ Seek Legal Advice:
- If the situation becomes complex or if you face challenges in resolving the matter, consider seeking legal advice to protect your rights.

Remember, clear communication and documentation are key in navigating such situations smoothly.
