Navigating HR and Legal Compliance for Road/Railway Projects: What Registers and Licenses Are Needed?

JAISINGHRANA21
Dear Senior, I would like to know what statutory compliance needs to be followed when separating road/railway projects (statutory compliances from HR, Legal & Safety points of view). Kindly provide me with all types of registers to maintain or any licenses to apply for, as I have to prepare a list of such compliance tasks and accordingly inform the contractor for preparation. I am expecting your prompt input on this matter.

Dear Jaisingh,

As you are working on projects involving roadways and railways, and with ongoing construction activities, you are entitled to the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act. You need to obtain a Registration Certificate (RC) and maintain documents as per the Act.

Since you are a contractor, it is essential for you to comply with the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act (CLRA) applicable under the respective state or central government. You are required to obtain a license and maintain records accordingly.

Additionally, other acts such as the Employees' State Insurance (ESI), Employees' Provident Fund (EPF), Professional Tax (PT), Labour Welfare Fund (LWF), Bonus, Payment of Wages, Minimum Wages, Equal Remuneration, etc., will also be applicable.

Please ensure you are familiar with and adhere to all relevant regulations and requirements.

Thank you.
