Preparing for a Labour Welfare Officer Interview: Which Labor Laws Should I Focus On?

Smitha Kumaran
Hello CiteHR Family,

I want to know what labor laws one has to focus on when preparing for an interview for the role of Labour Welfare Officer. There is no particular job description given for the role. What does this role generally entail? I will be really grateful to know about it.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Smitha,

For the Welfare Officer position, you need to focus mostly on the Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, Employee Compensation Act, Payment of Bonus Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, Maternity Benefit Act, a few sections from the Factories Act (sections related to Working Hours, Health & Welfare), and the Shops & Establishment Act. The specific role requirements may vary depending on the industry to which you are applying. For instance, in manufacturing, it is essential to be well-versed with all sections related to welfare in the Factories Act.

Warm Regards,

In factories, there is a position called a welfare officer. As per the Factory Act and State Rules, the roles and responsibilities of Welfare Officers are clearly specified.

If you are not hiring as per the Factory Act, please specify the industry so that more details can be provided.
