New Employee's Advance Salary Request: How Should We Handle Financial Concerns?

I have a new joiner, a mid-level employee. It's just two days, and he submitted an advance salary request mentioning financial issues at home. What things can we keep in mind while approving such requests?

Policy on Salary Advances

You should have a policy requiring a minimum service period of at least six months or a minimum probation period before granting a salary advance. Even for confirmed employees, if the salary is credited on the 1st of every month, any salary advance requested fifteen days after that should not be permitted.

A request for an advance from a newly joined employee to address family issues cannot be entertained. This is because we do not know the specifics of his family issues, and it's unlikely he has shared them with other employees. Additionally, no other employee would know the genuineness of the request. It may also happen that after receiving an advance, his next request would be for a few days off to resolve family issues. This could lead to many problems, and we cannot predict whether he will return. Therefore, I would advise not to entertain any salary advance before the employee has been confirmed in service.
