There are two key aspects in a career: qualification and knowledge. Knowledge can be acquired through practical work experience. I know of people with impressive qualifications, but when it comes to knowledge on a particular aspect of HR, they draw a blank.

I have seen a lot of HR professionals with the MSSW alumni tag. Regarding the course, it's an online instructor-led program for 12 months covering broad areas in HR with a lot of guest lectures. This is good for someone who is looking to add weight or credentials to their resume, particularly for career advancement in HR. However, at the end of the day, a course is only a credential; it all comes down to what you have learned and what you bring to the table under practical circumstances. Sometimes a good course can boost your confidence in your area of expertise, which will, in turn, reflect in your work, and your career progresses from there.

Well, 3 years is quite a crunch; generally, you would need at least 6 to 8 years to have an overall understanding of your domain to groom yourself to a leadership position and acquire the necessary skill sets and knowledge. I would say forget about titles, work on yourself, act like a head HR from now itself, take ownership of your tasks, be proactive, and I'm sure you will reach where you want to be sooner or later.
