Is PF Deduction Necessary for Employees Earning Over 16,000 Without a UAN?

Please suggest: If the basic salary is more than 16,000 and the employee doesn't have any UAN number earlier, is it necessary to deduct the PF?

Hi, if Basic + DA is more than Rs. 16,000/- and if the employee didn’t contribute with the past employer, then you can exempt the employee from PF. However, please collect Form 11 (self-declaration form, which mandates employees to share details about their previous EPF account) and keep it in the file.

Even if the employee opts out initially, they can choose to join the PF scheme later. It's advisable for the employer to keep the completed Form 11 for record-keeping purposes. For the latest and most accurate information, it's recommended to refer to the official EPFO website or consult with a professional advisor specializing in Indian labor laws.
