Is a 3300 INR Penalty for One Unplanned Leave Legal? Seeking Advice on Salary Deductions

So the company I'm joining has a 3300 INR penalty deducted from the salary for one unplanned leave. Is it legal?

My salary is around 36K, so it feels a little much.

Absolutely illegal, and you can very well raise your grievance with the local labor department.

No remedy under the POW Act

As the POW Act is not applicable, there is no remedy. It is better to leave such companies.
