Comparative Analysis of Major HRMS Vendors and Payroll Solutions in ERP Market

Grant
Can anyone please advise where I can get comparisons between different HRMSs? I'm particularly keen to see how much market share the major players have.

Many thanks for any help! 
Major vendors for HRMS

Major vendors for HRMS are mostly PeopleSoft, SAP, and Oracle-HRMS. There are another 12-15 products available in the ERP market, but they don't offer as much value-added service as the above three.

Comparison of PeopleSoft and SAP

PeopleSoft is the oldest HRMS product and is considered the best for HR solutions. However, SAP excels in CRM/Finance rather than HR. Therefore, the choice between the two depends on whether you are planning a total ERP implementation across the organization or just for HR. For a complete ERP, SAP is preferred over PeopleSoft. If you are looking for HR process automation only, PeopleSoft is the best proposal.

SAP is four times costlier than PeopleSoft and twice as cumbersome in implementation (taking almost two years to complete, while PeopleSoft takes six months). If your organization has 10,000 employees, then SAP is recommended. For organizations with fewer than 5000 employees, PeopleSoft is the better choice.

Oracle-HRMS Overview

The third significant player in this field is Oracle-HRMS. They entered the market only 6-8 months ago, making it difficult to gauge the performance of their HRMS solution. However, they have made an impact with very geography-specific (e.g., Indian HRMS customized to local regulations like PF, ESI, etc.) and industry-specific solutions (IT, Engineering, BPO, Manufacturing, etc.). Their hostile acquisition of PeopleSoft has raised questions about the latter's future. In response, SAP and PeopleSoft have also introduced industry-geography-specific HRMS solutions.

Ultimately, the choice depends on the nature of your organization - whether it is service-oriented or employee-centric will guide the solution you need.

I am sending you the market share of ERP_HRMS vendors as published in one of the ERP journals. Please write back if you find this interesting.
