Employee Leave Dilemma: Should Sunday Be Counted as Leave Without Pay?

Driha
Please help—if an employee takes leave from Monday to Friday and joins the office on Saturday, should we deduct their Sunday as Leave Without Pay (LWP) or not? If yes, then according to which rule?

Hi, Sunday should not be marked as leave without pay. The employee was on leave from Monday to Friday only, correct? Therefore, the sandwich leave rule should not be applied here.

Dear Vmlakshminarayanan Sir, can you help me understand under which act sandwich leave is to be considered? I am trying to understand it but have not been able to find the information.

Hi,

The concept of sandwich leave policy

The sandwich leave policy is a general practice followed by companies and does not form part of any statutory act. Employers and employees, on mutual consent, follow this, and many companies mention this sandwich leave in the employment contract itself. Employers, aiming to improve man-hours and production and to avoid many employees availing leave at the same time, follow this policy.
