Work conditions of security guards in India
I had some queries about the work conditions of security guards in India. I live in a DLF building in Delhi NCR, and the security services are outsourced to SVG. I spoke to a few guards and learned that they work 12 hours a day with no monthly holidays. If they take a leave, ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 per leave is deducted. They are not provided with any medical insurance either.
Questions about legality and compensation
Can someone shed some light on this, please? Is 12 hours legal? Should they be paid more for working more than 8 hours? Why do they not have any access to leaves? Is this legal under labor laws? What steps can be taken to tackle this?
