Offer Termination Warning: Can HR Act If You Miss Your Start Date?

Himanshu Parekh
Can HR send a warning for offer termination due to not joining on the date?
Madhu.T.K
Why should HR send a warning letter to someone who has not joined?

Just send a letter stating that since you have not joined, the offer remains terminated. That is sufficient.

Hi, Normally, in all offer letters, there will be a clause as below or a similar clause:

"This offer is valid until ____ only, and your failure to report to duty on or before _____ will lead to the cancellation of this offer without any further communication."

If any such clause is already added in your offer letter, there is no need for a separate offer cancellation email. If the candidate fails to join on the stipulated date, the offer will be automatically canceled.

If the candidate doesn't join on or before the stipulated date mentioned in the offer letter, the offer letter stands canceled unless the candidate has asked for any extension.

Yes, I agree with Mr. Lakshminarayan. There is no need to send any cancellation letter because the conditions will be available in the offer letter itself. Therefore, the offer will automatically lapse.
