Facing Pension Claim Rejection? How to Fix Missing Documents and Resubmit Successfully

maria-mathew
My PF Pension claim has been rejected for the following reasons. They have declined the claim due to the following requirements:

1) NON-EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATE NOT FOUND ENCLOSED. PLEASE RESUBMIT ALONG WITH CERTIFICATE. PLEASE ATTACH A CLEAR CHEQUE PDF. (I am not able to remove the earlier cheque PDF as it did not turn out right. How do I attach a new one?)

2) MEMBER NAME NOT PRINTED ON CANCELLED CHEQUE.

3) In 10-D, the date of birth certificate of the dependent was not enclosed. (I don't have a birth certificate for my spouse. What else can I attach? Would an Aadhar card suffice?)

If you are aged 58, then what is the need for a non-employment certificate? I don't understand. The rest is clear. You can upload a new PDF of a cheque clearly showing the details like account number, IFSC, and your name printed on the cheque. Please ensure that the name is the same as per your PF records. In the absence of the birth certificate of your spouse, you can attach his/her Aadhar card bearing the date of birth.

Regarding the non-employment certificate

You may have to contact the EPFO because I have not come across such a scenario earlier. It may happen when you are claiming the pension before you reach the age of 58 or when you have a long gap after the last service. If so, you can give a declaration by yourself that you have not been employed since the exit from the last employment.

Hi Madhu T K,

In one case in our company, we applied for 10D for a dependent pension. During that time, the EPFO organization sought the NON-EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATE because the individual may have worked for another organization after leaving the previous company and before turning 58. If the individual worked for another organization for 10 years and has a separate scheme certificate, then he/she can apply for a pension. This is to avoid double pension benefits.

For example, a 30-year-old employee with 10 years of service in one company would be 40 years old. After completing 10 years of service in another company, the individual would be 50 years old. If she has two 10-year services and has obtained scheme certificates while EPFO processes are offline, they want to confirm and request the NON-EMPLOYMENT CERTIFICATE.

If she has two scheme certificates, the services will be merged, and a revised pension will be issued.

Kindly confirm how you have applied—whether you have applied online in the Employee Portal or submitted hard copies of Form 10-D through the employer.

Attach Aadhaar card

Attach the Aadhaar card having the full date of birth as proof of date of birth for your spouse.

Cheque and passbook details

If your cheque does not have the name, then attach a copy of the first page of your passbook where your account number and name are mentioned.

Non-employment letter

A letter from you stating that you have not worked in any other establishment after leaving this organization is a must to attach. All the above should be attested by our employer with a stamp and signature.
