Understanding Casual Leave: Can You Use or Encash It During Probation, Notice, or Year-End?

Shree patel
Hello, I have questions related to CL:

1) Is it applicable during the probation period?
2) Is an employee eligible to get CL during the notice period?
3) Can we use CL for vacation purposes?
4) Can employees encash unused CL at the end of the year, or can we use all our unused CL at the end of the year?

Hi,

1) Yes, during the probationary period, an employee can avail of CL leave.

2) Yes, during the notice period, an employee may be allowed to avail of CL. Some employers restrict any leave during the notice period, but no law restricts employees from availing of leave during this time.

3) If the vacation leave is going to be for more than 3 days, then it would be better for the employee to avail of EL or PL leave. Anything 3 days or fewer can be adjusted against CL.

4) Unavailed CL cannot be encashed or carried forward to the next financial year.
